WHAT THIS IS ABOUT
·
Close your eyes. Hold your question clearly in your mind, then choose how to cast.
Xiao Liu Ren is one of the most approachable traditions of Chinese divination. It is traditionally attributed to the strategist Zhuge Liang and nicknamed Ma Qian Ke, “the reading taken just before mounting a horse”: a quick answer for a decision that cannot wait.
Systems such as BaZi or Zi Wei Dou Shu start from a full birth chart. Xiao Liu Ren starts from now. It takes the lunar month, the lunar day and the current double-hour (or three numbers you choose by intuition) and points to one of six positions on your hand. Each position stands for a phase of energy, an outcome and a piece of guidance.

Six images that sit naturally beside mindfulness, synchronicity and intuitive decision-making.
Example: month 3, day 5, hour 7. Month 3 ends on Su Xi. Counting 5 from Su Xi ends on Da An. Counting 7 from Da An ends on Da An again.
Shortcut: add M + D + T, subtract 3, and divide by 6. A remainder of 0 means Da An, 1 Liu Lian, 2 Su Xi, 3 Chi Kou, 4 Xiao Ji, 5 Kong Wang.
